The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) NOT TO ENTER FLOODWATER due to current moderate flooding:

  • Peak Hill
  • Dandaloo
  • Mudall
  • Nyngan

You should monitor the situation as it is constantly changing. Avoid floodwater for your safety.

What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises that moderate to heavy rainfall across the upper Bogan catchment during Sunday and Monday caused a moderate flood peak at Peak Hill overnight Monday into Tuesday.

River levels are now falling with minor flooding occurring.

Moderate flooding is occurring along the Bogan River at Dandaloo, where major flooding is possible early Wednesday evening. Further downstream, moderate flooding is occurring at Mudall (estimated) and Nyngan, with major flooding possible at Mudall.

Major flooding continues at Mulgawarrina (estimated) and Gongolgon. Revised predictions along the Bogan River at Mudall and downstream will be provided once the peak flood level is observed at Dandaloo.

PEAK HILL

The Bogan River at Peak Hill peaked at 5.58 metres around midnight Monday into Tuesday, with moderate flooding. The river level is currently at 3.43 metres and falling, with minor flooding.

The Bogan River at Peak Hill may remain above the minor flood level (2.50 m) until Thursday morning.

The following may be impacted by floodwaters:

DANDALOO

The Bogan River at Dandaloo may exceed the major flood level (6.00 m) early Wednesday evening. The river level may peak near 6.20 metres overnight Wednesday into Thursday, with major flooding.

The following may be impacted by floodwaters:

MUDALL

No river level observations are available for Mudall. It is estimated that moderate flooding is occurring at Mudall. The Bogan River at Mudall may reach the major flood level (3.60 m) overnight Friday into Saturday.

 The following roads may be impacted by floodwater;

  • Low-lying areas and access roads may be impacted by floodwater
  • Many local sealed and unsealed roads are closed due to floodwaters visit Bogan Shire Council for further information

NYNGAN

Renewed river level rises are expected along the Bogan River at Nyngan, which may reach 4.00 metres around mid-next week (23-24 Nov) with moderate flooding.
