I would like to start with a huge thankyou to all who attended and participated in the Big Bogan Festival despite the weather being against us on the day. The feedback I received from those who attended was that it was a great day and enjoyed by all. A huge thank you to our coordinator and Shire staff for their efforts both on the day and for the months of preparation leading up to it. It was great to have Sam Farraway MLC Minister for Regional Transport and Roads present on the day to help with unveiling the name of our new four legged Bogan friend who was voted in as ‘Rusty’. Also a thank you to all the stall holders and food vendors for attending on the day and Rodney Robb, the Show Committee and Pony Club for running the kids events for the day. Our MC for the day was Tim Moses who was absolutely outstanding - a big thanks to Tim.
I received news this morning from the CEO of the Western NSW Health District that that they will temporarily be closing down all but one of the inpatient beds at the Nyngan MPS due to staff shortages. Any additional patients will apparently be transferred to Trangie, Narromine or Warren. This is totally unacceptable even if only temporary and I can assure residents that Council will be working immediately to get this rectified.
Once again our region has seen more large rain events and creeks at the high levels and many roads closed throughout the shire. I once again urge people to stay off them wherever possible. If you are experiencing difficulties and require assistance please let council know and we will see what we can do to help.
