Plumbing and Drainage

Council may be able to provide a sewer diagram (10.7 Planning Certificate) identifying the location of sewer mains and private wastewater service pipes on a property. The diagrams are completed with the best information available to council but should be taken as a guide. Exact locations should be physically determined on the property.

To make an application for this diagram refer to BUILDING AND DEVELOPMENT FORMS section of the website and fill out the Planning Certificate Application Form and submit it to council with relevant fees.

When upgrading of a new plumbing or drainage work is carried out, Approval is required from council and a critical that it is inspected by Bogan Shire Council. Plumbers must book an inspection with council and submit a new or updated version of the layout to Council for the completed drainage or plumbing works conducted.

Septic Tanks and Treatment Systems

If your home isn’t connected to a reticulated sewer, you are likely to have some type of Onsite Sewage Management System (OSMS). An Onsite Sewage Management System is often referred to as a decentralized Sewage management. OSMS is a system that stores or treats sewage.

There are many different systems available, including:

  • Septic tank and absorption trenches
  • Septic tank and evapotranspiration areas
  • Septic tank and aerobic sand filters
  • Aerated wastewater treatment systems (AWTS)
  • Septic tank to pump out
  • Dry composting toilets and greywater treatment systems
  • Wet composting toilets and subsurface application systems
  • Septic tank and constructed wetlands
  • Septic tank and soil mound systems
  • Pit toilets
  • Pump to sewer systems
  • Greywater treatment systems
  • Any other system that stores, treats and/or disposes of sewage and wastewater onsite.
