Cemeteries

Bogan Shire Council is committed to the respectful management and maintenance of local cemeteries, providing peaceful and dignified spaces for remembrance.

Nyngan Cemetery

Nyngan Cemetery is the main and largest cemetery within the Shire and is located on the eastern side of the town. It includes a range of burial areas, including lawn and general sections, as well as areas for ashes interment.
The cemetery also contains historically significant features, including the heritage-listed Chinese Graves and Burner, dating from the early 1900s. This site reflects the cultural history of Chinese communities in regional New South Wales and is listed on the State Heritage Register.
Nyngan Cemetery records thousands of burials and remains an important site for genealogy and local history research.

Nyngan Lawn Cemetery

Village Cemeteries

The cemeteries at Girilambone and Hermidale are smaller, historic burial grounds that reflect the early settlement of these rural communities.
They continue to be maintained by Council and are valued for their local heritage significance and connection to past generations.

For information regarding burial arrangements, plot availability, fees and charges, or maintenance enquiries, please contact Council directly. Details of current fees can also be found in Council’s Fees and Charges schedule. (PDF 349.2KB)
