Asbestos Asbestos is a hazardous material that can pose serious health risks if disturbed. It must only be disposed of at waste facilities licensed to accept asbestos. Council strongly recommends engaging a licensed asbestos removalist to carry out any removal work. Once removed, asbestos must be kept damp, securely packaged, and triple-wrapped in accordance with safety requirements. A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required before delivering asbestos to a Council waste facility. Applicable fees and charges will apply.
