The Apprentice position is based at Council's workshop, reports directly to the Mechanic and will learn and assist with maintaining the workshop, tools and equipment, repairing plant, and equipment items used in various Council operations. You will be a keen and self-motivated team player.

The Apprentice Mechanic position requires enrolment and study in a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

To be considered for the Apprentice Mechanic position, candidates must hold a current manual class C, P1 or P2 drivers licence or obtain licence within 3 months of appointment and have completed school studies to NSW Record of School Achievement (RoSA) level or equivalent (year 10/School Certificate) to be eligible for tertiary enrolment.

 Salary Benefits

  • Remuneration at T3 – T10 of Council’s salary system ($762.18 - $1194.58 / week) depending on qualifications and experience
  • Full time 4 year contract - 38 hours per week
  • 11.5% superannuation,
  • All fees relating to study enrolment and course materials paid by Council,
  • Travel and accommodation related expenses paid by Council as per Council policy, 
  • Eligibility for Government subsidies - ensuring no out of pocket expenses,
  • First and second year apprentices receive a $100 rebate on their car registration through Service NSW.
  • 4 weeks’ annual leave
  • Sick, Carers and other leave as per the Local Government (State) Award,
  • Council provided PPE and uniform.
