Position Overview

The Trainee Environmental Health role is designed for individuals seeking to develop their knowledge and skills in environmental health. This position will support the Development and Environmental Services department through administrative and technical tasks, enhancing operational efficiency.

Under the guidance of the Senior Health and Building Surveyor, the successful candidate will engage in various environmental health activities, research, and projects, whilst pursuing a Diploma in Local Government with a focus on environmental health.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for motivated individuals who have a genuine interest in environmental health and a desire to learn and grow within the field.

  • Demonstrated interest in environmental health and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Commitment to completing a Diploma of Local Government focused on environmental health.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on confidentiality.
  • Effective organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Completion of school studies to NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) level with relevant work experience.
  • Possession of a current class C, P1, or P2 driver’s licence.
  • Must be an Australian Resident or hold a visa allowing permanent employment in Australia.

Desirable qualifications include a Current First Aid Certificate and a NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate (white card).

Salary & Benefits

Remuneration for this position is set at T3 – T10 of Council’s salary system, ranging from $762.18 to $1194.58 per week, depending on qualifications and experience. Additional benefits include:
