LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

The NSW Electoral Commission will be conducting NSW Local Government Council Elections on Saturday 14 September 2024. The Polling Location for Bogan Shire on Saturday 14 September is Nyngan High School. Voting is compulsory.

Residents not able to vote on September 14 will also be able to lodge a pre-poll vote from Monday 9 September to Friday 13 September 8.30am - 4.00pm at the Bogan Shire Council Pre-poll Office at 81 Cobar Street, Nyngan.

MONKEY BRIDGE BYPASS

Bogan Shire Council is working with Fisheries NSW to get approval to improve the usage of the existing Monkey Bridge low-level bypass. River flows continue to cause damage to the crossing making it impassable. No work can be carried out on the bypass without Fisheries NSW approval and the appropriate permits, anyone carrying out unauthorised work in a waterway may be prosecuted by Fisheries.

BIG BOGAN STREET FESTIVAL

As we approach the Big Bogan Street Festival on Saturday 28 September 2024, final preparations are underway to ensure the event is a success. If you are planning to attend, please secure your FREE tickets as soon as possible. Ticket sales allow Council to estimate the event’s attendance ahead of time and plan accordingly, specifically to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees. Tickets can be secured through TryBooking.com , or visit Council’s Facebook or website.

Alternatively, the Bogan Shire Library staff can book your tickets on your behalf and print them off for you. Stay tuned into Council’s Facebook and website over the coming weeks as further details about food vendors, market stalls, and site maps are released!

Don’t forget to register for the Best Dressed Bogan Competition. There are categories for babies (0-5 years), children (6-16 years) and adults (17+). Show up in your most unrefined pluggers and you could walk away in them with $300 for First Place or $200 for Runner Up!

YOUTH AND COMMUNITY CENTRE

The Bogan Shire Youth and Community Centre has drop-in sessions for those aged 12 - 24 from 3pm-6pm Monday to Friday. Please see the Bogan Shire Facebook Page or bsc_youthandcommunitycentre on Instagram for the program of activities on offer throughout September. The Spring Holiday Break dates commence September 30 to October 11.

NYNGAN LIBRARY

The Nyngan Library internal renovations are now complete, all September activity sessions including story time and baby time will resume back at the Library space.

Story time: Every Monday and Tuesday 10.30am-11.30am . Baby Time: Every Friday from 11am-12pm.
