NYNGAN WATER
Council received some feedback from Nyngan residents over the new year regarding the colour of their water. This was likely the result of the inflow of fresh water to the weir, via Albert Priest Channel, in mid December.
Council regularly flushes its mains and carries out routine testing at the treatment plant and other locations throughout the reticulation network.
These tests have indicated the reticulated water supply is safe to drink and there are no concerns with PFAS (“forever chemical”) levels.
Council is in the process of replacing its 83-year-old water treatment plant, which will take several years. In the meantime, if you have any concerns with water quality please contact Council on 68359000 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
