WASTE 2 ART WORKSHOP

Outback Arts is holding a fun Waste 2 Art workshop at the Bogan Shire Youth and Community Centre this Saturday, 28 March, from 2pm-5pm.  Waste 2 Art is an annual competition which encourages people to repurpose waste materials into works of art.  Bogan Shire Council will be hosting a local competition to be judged at the 2026 Nyngan Show. Winners have the opportunity to progress to the regional exhibition at Broken Hill for an opportunity to win great prizes.  The 2026 Waste 2 Art theme is “Shrink your Footprint”, and all artworks need to fit into a shoe box.  If you are aged 10 and over and would like some inspiration, this free workshop is for you. To register please call Outback Arts on (02) 6822 2484.

OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS AT THE BSMC

This month at the Bogan Shire Medical Centre, we shine a light on Ovarian cancer - a disease which often has subtle symptoms and is sometimes called the “silent” cancer.

Know the signs:

  • Persistent bloating
  • Pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Feeling full quickly
  • Urinary urgency or frequency

If symptoms are new, unusual, and persist for more than a few weeks, don’t ignore them. Early detection can save lives. Talk to your healthcare provider about your risk factors, especially if you have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer.

The Bogan Shire Medical Centre offers a Women’s Health Check for those aged 45–49, to review:

  • Blood pressure and heart health
  • Blood sugar and cholesterol levels
  • Cervical screening
  • Breast health
  • Perimenopause symptoms
  • Mental wellbeing

Preventive care helps you stay healthy, active, and informed about changes that may occur during this stage of life. A simple appointment today can make a big difference for tomorrow.

Contact the Bogan Shire Medical Centre team on (02) 6832 1305 to make your appointment.
