The dry weather is continuing, hopefully soon we can see some much-needed soaking rain . With regional Victoria and SA suffering through drought, the dry conditions are certainly not easing the worry for the Shire’s agriculture production, and is also having a negative effect on a lot of our rural roads. The lack of water and access to water has also caused issues in some areas, for maintenance grading and re-sheeting on gravel roads.

Royal Far West’s annual event ‘Ride for Country Kids’, was in Nyngan on Wednesday 14th May at Davidson Park. The annual cycle is a three-day ride across different locations in NSW to raise vital funds for Royal far West to continue to provide free services to our country kids, for paediatric care involving development, behavioural and mental health with many specialists in one location (Manly which can also be a first-time beach holiday for rural and remote kids) or via telehealth. Without Royal Far West our country kids would slip through the gaps accessing these vital services due to cost, wait times and accessibility. This year celebrated 100 years of Royal Far west and the ride commenced in Bourke which was one of the first innovative travelling and aerial baby clinics for Royal Far West, then it was on to Cobar to the Royal Far West founders home town Reverend Stanly Drummond, followed by Nyngan which we have been lucky to have had their continued support for our Shire kids over the years and then finally they stopped in Narromine which was where RFW started their first telehealth program. Royal Far West has continued to provided access for quality health, education and development to regional and remote kids who are extremely very disadvantage compared to the city’s kids when it comes to health and they believe every child deserves access to these invaluable services, they continue to fundraise to create these opportunities so our kids are not forgotten. Little Wings is another vital charity service that assists organisations like RFW to get children and their families to the vital care, via plane or road so families don’t have to cover cost of travel when they are already stressed with kids in need. If you can afford in anyway to donate towards these fantastic organisations, please do, it certainly won’t go to waste.

The women’s health clinic service will be offering free confidential clinics at the Nyngan Multi Purpose Service on Tuesday 20th May 2025. To make an appointment please call 026351700.

The water tower mural is now complete and is definitely the talking point around Nyngan. It looks fantastic thank you to the artist Scott Nagy and Krimsone for their amazing work. The project was funded through a NSW government grant to beautify and attract more visitors to the region, which it will certainly do for Nyngan.

Over the next fortnight in the Shire, you can expect works continuing on resheeting of Tubbavilla Road, continued resheeting a section of Monkey Bridge Road, continue grading of Pangee Road, commencement grading of Booroomugga Road, continued construction of a footpath on Wambiana Street, funded by Resources for Regions.
